Our Name
Plumeria is the flower most associated with Hawaiian culture and is known as “the flower of love and aloha”.
In Hawaiian, the word aloha, a term of well-wishing, is thought to have originally been derived from the words alo, meaning “share”, and ha meaning “essence of life”. It is used in Hawaii to communicate both hello and goodbye.
This double meaning is fitting to describe the process that occurs in counseling, for therapy entails both a departure and an arrival, both at the same time. While we leave behind old ways of thinking, feeling and being, we welcome new insights and skills which allow us to embrace the lives to which we truly aspire.
