I have worked with individuals, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds and across the lifespan. My approach is relational, as I believe that a strong rapport is necessary to best support my clients in working toward their goals in therapy. In addition, so many of the issues that bring people to therapy can be traced back to ruptures in important relationships, so building a strong therapeutic bond that can weather potential disconnection and conflict is an experience that can be quite powerful, even transformative. Most of us are doing the best we can with what we have, and I try to help clients who might be struggling to see a way out to recognize and celebrate their resilience, re-authoring the story they have been telling themselves.

I was born in Central America and grew up on the Texas-Mexico border, and as such I am fluent in Spanish. I have worked with many first-generation children and young adults, and enjoy exploring themes of identity, biculturalism, multiculturalism, and examining the impact of language and narrative on identity. I have also worked with adults with severe mental illness, as well as older-adults with depression. In my work with clients, I draw on various modalities and theoretical models, including: Narrative therapy, Attachment theory, Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness-Informed CBT, Family Systems, and Humanistic Therapy.
