FAQs

Therapy is a relational endeavor versus a transactional endeavor. What does this mean? That finding the best ‘fit’ for you is the most important quality in a therapist. Will you feel vulnerable with this person? Do you have confidence in the therapist’s ability to help you? Focus less on the modality used (we all have many tools in our toolbox!) and instead focus on the experience and orientation that your therapist is bringing to the table. If you don’t feel like it’s the right fit after one or two sessions, don’t be afraid to ask

for a better match! Ideally, the right Therapist for you will be somebody you can work with on a longer-term basis and at different points in your life.

Yes! We can offer both on site and virtual therapy in our south Austin location. We offer virtual therapy in every area of Texas – as all of our therapists are licensed throughout Texas. We are independent and locally owned, and all of our therapists are very experienced and professional.

Yes! Our practice manager can help you match with the best therapist according to your needs. Use our initial contact form to get started, (hyperlink here to make an appt?) and we can take it from there and help you find the best match.

All of our therapists use a relational model. This means that we focus on the relationship and that comes first before everything. The modality or type of approach used is really secondary. This is because feeling trust in your therapist is the most important component in order to experience tangible results and growth. The first few sessions will be getting to know more about you and the changes you want to see in your life.

Absolutely. If you are not feeling like things ‘click,’ or that you will have the ability to truly trust your therapist in the first couple of sessions – let us know and we will be happy to match you with somebody else.

It is a very brave decision to enter into therapy. Sometimes things might feel like they are getting worse before they get better because therapy can be like peeling back an onion: You can feel very vulnerable and raw while you peel back the layers of understanding how you got to this point. Therapy is a process of integrating your life experiences and making meaning out of your suffering. Contrary to popular belief, a well lived and satisfying life comes from a life of meaning – not one that is free entirely of suffering (which is actually not possible!) it’s impossible to feel happy and joyful all of the time. But it is absolutely possible to have a life that feels full and full of meaning, and is generally satisfying.
