Plumeria Counseling Center’s Student Clinic
Part of what makes Plumeria Counseling Center unique is that we operate as a teaching clinic, meaning we utilize master-level counseling students and post-graduate interns, along with fully licensed professionals, to provide counseling services to the community. This allows us to offer clinical services for fees that are affordable to people at various income levels.
The ideals of Quality Service and Excellence in Counseling are at the heart of everything we do at Plumeria. We only accept the most advanced and talented students to provide services to our clients. Our student counselors and graduate interns are supervised by highly experienced professionals, who have proven themselves as excellent service providers and mentors.
For Students Interested in Applying
As a student clinician at Plumeria, you may set your own hours (along with your supervisor), you’ll have private office space for client sessions, advertising and marketing through Plumeria’s website, reception services (appointment setting, client referrals), and basic forms and supplies necessary to provide services to your clients. Plumeria offers a supportive atmosphere where you will have access to multiple Student Supervisors, as well as your primary, designated supervisor. We want to ensure that you always have access to the support team, whether you’d like to do a quick case consult regarding a client, have a practical question, or need clarification on procedure.
Because Plumeria is not a large agency, the number of Student Clinic positions available each term is limited and therefore quite selective. Maintaining a maximum of only three practicum students at any given time affords our Student Clinicians the ability to build a respectable client caseload and to access a solid support team to assist in working with that caseload. The Student Clinic Supervision Team consists of fully licensed and experienced professionals who are currently working at Plumeria and have been chosen for their superior skills and devotion to the field and Plumeria’s mission. Our supervisors volunteer their time to supervise students, and are asked to commit to at least one term of supervision. If accepted, you may have one supervisor for your entire practicum, or you may have a different one for each term, depending on your requests and on supervisor availability. Jason Fischer, LPC, Clinical Director is consistently a member of the supervision team.
Plumeria’s student therapists are customarily invited to remain a member of our therapeutic team, if desired, to complete their post-graduation internship hours.
