Knitting Therapy

Knitting is therapeutic and can produce the same relaxing qualities as mediation. The repetitive movements of knitting can relieve stress and soothe tension while calming the body and mind. The act of knitting incorporates coordination of the left and right hemispheres of the brain which may help in the treatment of depression, anxiety and trauma. Exercising the brain through knitting may even help improve one's memory. Learning a new skill and working toward completing a knitted project can be extremely rewarding. Start by learning the basics and progress to learning more complicated stitches. Learn about knitting needles, yarns and how to read a pattern. The class will be on-going for adults and children of all skill levels.
