Austin Licensed Intern Therapists

Plumeria Counseling Center is proud to offer our clients the opportunity to work with intern therapists. An "intern therapist" is a provisionally-licensed professional who:

  1. Holds a Master's degree in a mental health field
  2. Has passed a national examination for their related license
  3. Is in the process of accumulating 3,000 hours of experience  (required for full licensure)
  4. Meets weekly with a licensed supervisor to discuss their clients
  5. Cannot accept insurance

While less experienced than a professional therapist, an intern therapist is not necessarily less skilled or effective at providing counseling services to their clients. Plumeria Counseling Center strongly encourages you to consider our interns while assessing which of our therapists might be just the right one for you.
